Curriculum Vitae
I obtained the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Pisa University, Italy, in 2003. After graduation, I was a "graduate fellow" at ISTI-CNR (Information Science and Technology Institute, Italian National Research Council) and conducted research in the context of the European Space Agency's PLANCK project, developing signal separation algorithms based on particle filtering techniques. In September 2004 I joined the Laboratory for Cognitive Brain Mapping in RIKEN Brain Science Institute, Japan. I switched my main research interests to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) for studying the physiology of the human visual system. In January 2007 I enrolled the doctorate course in "Molecular, Metabolic and Functional Exploration of the Nervous System and Sensory Organs". I obtained the PhD degree in 2010. In 2011 I moved back to Pisa and joined the IMAGO7 Foundation, based at the Stella Maris Research Institute and Hospital, where I contributed to the setup of the first 7 Tesla magnetic resonance system in Italy. My current research interests are the development of new acquisition and processing techniques for high-field magnetic resonance imaging, and their use in neuroscience and experimental clinical protocols.
